The segment of CSAH 36 (53rd Street NE), between the intersections of Quilley Avenue NE and Rachele Avenue NE, in the City of Otsego, will continue to be closed for approximately 2 more weeks while county staff construct a short-term fix. The start date of the work is pending DNR approval.
The closure has been in place due to a slope failure on the roadway along the Crow River. Because of the unstable soils and safety concerns it presents to the traveling public, county staff has been working with consulting geotechnical engineers to evaluate the damage and recommend both short- and long-term repairs. The short-term repair would allow us to reopen the roadway to traffic while the long-term repair is evaluated and designed.
There will be no detour posted. The Highway Department will announce on the county’s website and social media platforms when the road reopens.
