Register to Vote in Minnesota

Who Can Vote?
You’re eligible to vote in Minnesota if you:
Are a U.S. citizen
Will be 18 or older on Election Day
Have lived in Minnesota for at least 20 days
Are properly registered
Registering on Election Day
You can register at your polling place on Election Day if you haven’t already registered or if:
You moved
Changed your name
Haven’t voted in the past 4 years
To register, bring proof of your name and address in the precinct. Here's how:
Option 1: Bring a Valid ID with Your Current Address
Choose one of these:
Minnesota driver’s license or learner’s permit (or receipt)
Minnesota state ID card (or receipt)
Tribal ID card with name, photo, address, and signature
Option 2: Bring a Photo ID + Proof of Address
If your ID has an old address, bring:
A photo ID, such as:
Driver’s license or ID (any U.S. state)
U.S. passport
U.S. military ID
Tribal ID (with name, signature, and photo)
Minnesota college or high school ID
AND
A document with your current name and address, such as:
Lease or rental agreement (valid through Election Day)
Student fee statement
A recent bill or statement (dated within 30 days) for:
Phone, internet, or TV
Utilities (electric, gas, water, sewer, garbage)
Bank or credit card
Rent or mortgage payment
Other Ways to Register on Election Day
Bring a registered voter from your precinct who can vouch for where you live
Use a “Notice of Late Registration” mailed to you if you registered close to Election Day
