Future Staffing for the Otsego Fire Department

The Otsego Fire Department will use a combination staffing model to provide dependable service designed to meet the needs of our growing community. A combination staffing model will include a full-time Fire Chief, full-time Captains, full-time Firefighters, and part-time firefighters from the community.

The department will rely on a strong team of part-time firefighters to serve the community. These dedicated individuals will be an essential part of the department, providing critical support during emergencies and helping to ensure a swift response across the city. Part-time members will undergo comprehensive training to meet the high standards expected of all firefighters, ensuring they are ready to protect lives and property.

Recruiting for all positions will begin in 2026, as we prepare for the department’s official launch. Staffing and leadership will be driven by the Fire Chief. Otsego has preliminarily outlined recruitment timelines for the remaining positions, with the expected schedule provided below. We are excited to build a team that reflects the resilience and dedication of the Otsego community.
